Inglenook House

Inglenook House - circa 1911 - 1912Inglenook House, a designated heritage building, was built on a newly subdivided Fairfield Farm Estate in 1911 by Louis Sebastian Vancouver York, a Realtor during Victoria's pre-World War I boom years. The house was designed by Harold Joseph Rous Cullin, a prominent Victoria architect, who knew the York family through Louis' brother John. It has been extremely well-maintained over the years and is a heritage fixture at the foot of Cook Street. Although the home has seen many owners over the last 99 years, all of the owners have been careful to preserve the home's exterior integrity.

Currently, Inglenook House serves three families. The lower floor is a large brand new residential condominium. The middle floor is an original heritage suite with a heritage designated foyer and Inglenook feature. The top floor is a completely renovated two bedroom, two bathroom suite with a wonderful sleeping porch overlooking the Southeast Woods of Beacon Hill Park.
